Stewardship Sunday       November 17, 2024

Welcome to our Church News!  We welcome you in our Risen and Living Savior, Jesus!

A Morning Prayer Praise to you, O God, maker of all things. You gave me life and breath. You sent your Son to cleanse me from sin and your Spirit to make me glad. Thank you for providing me with all that I need to live. Especially do I thank you for ______. To you be honor and glory now and forever.

Sunday School & Bible Study continues this week with adults meeting in the church basement and children in the school at 9:10am.   For our Sunday Morning Bible Class, we will be studying the same lessons as the children are studying in Sunday School, but with adult study questions. This is a great opportunity to review the basic Bible stories and see their applications to our lives of faith. This week’s story is: A divided kingdom – Jeroboam & Rehoboam.  Next Sunday’s story: A comfort in Captivity – Jeremiah.  Please make plans to join us!

Monday/Wednesday Bible Class will be meeting again this week to continue discussing the study of the Catechism with The Apostles’ Creed.  Please make plans to join us!

Thanksgiving Worship We Christians have so many reasons to observe a National Holiday in a spiritual way.  The Lord has been good to our nation, our homes, and our church. The works of the Lord are great and glorious; His Name is worthy of praise!  Thanksgiving services present an opportunity to offer that praise.  Worship on Wednesday evening, November 27th, at 6:30pm or the Thanksgiving Day Service, November 28th, at 10:00am.  Come and have God’s Word renew your attitude of gratitude to our Maker and Preserver.

Our offerings for Thanksgiving  Envelope and plate offerings will be forwarded to WELS Christian Aid & Relief.

Funeral   Christopher Rueter was called home to heaven on November 8th, age 53.  Funeral services were held on November 13th, 2024.

Memorials  In memory of Delmar Winning, a gift to the Restoration fund from family & friends.

Food Drive:  Please join the students of St. Stephen’s in gathering food for our local food pantry or making a monetary donation.  Food may be dropped off in the narthex or the ramp in the labeled containers up through the end of November.  Thank you for sharing Christ’s love with our community in this way.

Decorating For Thanksgiving And Christmas:
Contribute your time and talents to your Lord and the church!  Your help is needed to add Thanksgiving/Advent/Christmas beauty. Please meet at the front of church (ramp door will be open) on the following days:

  • Saturday, November 30th, 8:00am – Put up Christmas trees (strong men encouraged to participate)
  • Sunday, December 1st, 11:00am – Put up window decorations/wreaths

Any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Rudy Gaytan at 920-887-3083.

Joint Advent Service  The annual joint Advent service with Beaver Dam/Juneau/ Horicon/Lowell will be held here, at
St. Stephen’s, Wednesday, December 4th at 6:30pm. There will be devotions by the pastors, and special music by the choirs of all churches. Please join us for this special service.  Snacks and refreshments will also be served after the service in the church basement.

Christmas Parade:  St. Stephen’s is going to be a part of the Beaver Dam Holiday Parade again this year on Saturday, December 7 at 5:00 pm.   We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to walk the route as we hand out candy and pass out fliers promoting our church and school. Participants are encouraged to wear our school colors.  Since it will be dark, light-up necklaces or glowsticks, etc. may be a fun addition!! Donations of candy may be brought to the school office. Details about our location on the parade route will be forthcoming.  Any question?: Reach out to Karen Cooper at kcooper@saintstephen.org.

Advent By Candlelight Ladies, the last day to sign up for Advent by Candlelight will be December 1st.  There is a sign-up sheet at both church entrances for any of our ladies and guests who would like to attend Advent by Candlelight.  This year’s program will be held on Sunday, December 8th.  The event will begin in the church basement at 2:00 p.m. with registration, meet and greet until 2:20, when dessert and coffee will be served.  At 2:50 we will go to the church sanctuary where the program will take place.  The program will start at 3:00 or when all are seated.  Please join us!  If you have a seating request or hostess preference, or any food allergies, please note that on the sign-up sheet.  If you would like to be a table hostess, which includes decorating a table and providing a dessert, please indicate that on the sign-up sheet.  There is also a sign-up sheet at both entrances for men who are willing to help us at this event.  Your help is much appreciated!

Meditations  The latest issue of this devotional booklet (begins December 1st) is available in the entry and ramp.  There are also large print meditations available.
