Door Offering to help support Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society projects (usually for mission needs outside WELS budget) will be received after services this week and next.  Our area “Fall Rally” (a gathering at which presentations on WELS mission work is shared) will be held Saturday, October 15th at St. John’s in Montello.  For info, contact Carol Lathrop or one of the Pastors.

Bible Study

  • Sunday Bible Class Please join us in our continuous study of, “The Life of Abraham”.  Abraham’s life was filled with highs and lows. At times Abraham wondered how God would fulfill his promises. God did not disappoint Abraham. God constantly repeated those promises to Abraham to strengthen his faith. Even though Abraham did not see fulfillment of all those promises during his life, his faith held to God’s Word. Come and join us for this opportunity to grow in our faith together. Families are welcome to attend!
  • “Don’t Forsake Jesus!” The Letter to the Hebrews is our Monday/Wednesday Bible Study beginning September 12.  Challenges to those 1st century believers’ faith made forsaking Jesus rather tempting.  God used this writer to give them reasons to remain faithful to Jesus.  Obviously, there are many applications to us and to our faith challenges in 21st century USA.  Join us for this relevant study; Mondays at 7 P.M. and Wednesdays at 11 A.M. (same lesson) in the Church basement.

Public School Catechism Classes meet Wednesdays from 3:30pm-4:45pm.

  • 7th & 8th grade students from St. Stephen’s and Good Shepherd will meet at Good Shepherd.
  • 5th & 6th grade students from St. Stephen’s and Good Shepherd will meet at Stephen’s.

PTS Movie Night  PTS (Parent Teacher Society) is having its fall movie night in the school gym on Friday, September 23 at 6:30. Come early to get popcorn and water. All families welcome!  We will be watching the movie, Minions-The Rise of Gru.  Bring blankets and pillows to get comfortable.  Please no chairs. Hope to see you there!

Area WELS Seniors will meet Tuesday, September 13 in the St. Stephen’s basement.  Potluck dinner is at noon.  Following our devotion, Dave Niemi, retired WELS teacher now working with Kwik Trip corporate, will share with us “The Success Story of Kwik Trip”.  All are welcome!  Bring a friend!

Guest Preacher Next Weekend   Pastor Dan Lindner, a “son” of our congregation who now serves as the WELS (College) Campus Ministry Counselor will preach in our services September 15 & 18 and lead our Bible Class.  He will share with us how we strive to serve the spiritual needs of our young members attending colleges and universities around the country.  Dan’s ministry involves advising congregations in college towns on serving WELS college students with God’s Word.  He also wishes to simply express a “thank you” to St. Stephen’s for the Christian encouragement and support he received as a youngster and teenager, and finally as a student preparing for ministry.

Sunday School begins this morning, from 9:10 AM-9:50 AM. We invite all children from 3K-8th grade to attend. Classes will be held in the lower level of our school. No pre-registration is necessary.
