Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10
Encouragement Passage:
By day the Lord commands his mercy,
and at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

Parent conversations: Why should children obey their parents?
Good morning to all families of St. Stephen’s.
Lord’s blessing to all as we look to start another school year.
On Sunday mornings, you will receive an email in this format.
It is a general news piece for all parents in K-8. (Important information, upcoming events, etc)
Please take time to read through these announcements and share information with your child as well.
Classroom pertinent announcements will either be sent home via a sheet of paper
or posted on the school website.
First Day of School:
Children should arrive before 8:00 a.m. to prepare for the day.
Opening service is at 8:15 in church. All are invited/encouraged to attend.
You could enter the building through door S1. This is the main office entry between the church and school on Maple Street. You could also enter the church through the ramp doors labeled E5. This is the parking lot off of West Street. Parents are more than welcome to visit the school in the morning before the chapel. Please consider joining us for our chapel service to begin the year.
Singing Schedule:
Grades K-8 sing on Sunday, September 15. Worship that day will be at Lakeview Park in Beaver Dam starting at 10:00. Following worship will be our church picnic and welcome for new teachers. Please bring a dish to pass. The main meal will be provided. If it rains, worship will be at church with the meal to follow in the basement.
Children’s Choir is scheduled to sing September 29 at 9:00 at Good Shepherd.
Worship Opportunities:
The Lord tells us, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). Every week we have the opportunity to grow our faith and relationship with our Savior.
Services at St. Stephen’s are Thursday at 6:30pm, Sunday at 8am and 10am.
Bible class and Sunday School at 9:00am
Services at Good Shepherd are Wednesday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 9am.
Bible class and Sunday School at 10:15am
Kindergarten parents: Please be sure that your child’s immunization records are sent to school as soon as possible. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email Mr. Schulz and he will help out. (Principal@saintstephen.org)
Child pick up and drop off after 8:00 am:
If your child arrives after 8:00, they need to be dropped off in the office at door S1 and Mrs. Gensmer will get them to their classrooms. Any time you want to visit a child’s classroom for an extended period of time, please make arrangements with the teacher beforehand. Thank you. If you need to pick your child up due to appointments, illness, or any other non school related event, please go to the office (door S1) and speak with Mrs. Gensmer.
Parking Lot Gates:
The gates of our parking lot are closed at 8:00 and are usually opened by 3:00. We ask that parents that arrive early be patient if the gates are closed or the lot is being used for recess/P.E. We also ask that you pull as far forward as possible and come to get your child from the marked area, especially if they are under 3rd grade.
Band lessons will start next Wednesday, Sept 4.
Piano lessons will start on Tuesday, Sept 3
Mission Collection:
Our first mission collection will already be at our opening service. If you would like to send an offering with your child, please put it into an envelope so we are aware of what it is for. The rest of the year, mission envelopes will be sent home with the children to place their offerings in. Our first quarter collection will be for Project Timothy. Project Timothy began in 1993 as an effort to provide students with a ministry experience in a home or world mission field. The purpose of the program is to expose students to cross-cultural mission work, to enable students to gain personal experience in the work of a mission, and to provide them with positive encouragement to continue their training for public ministry. Project Timothy is also designed to assist mission congregations in their outreach programs. We set a goal of $500.00 for our first quarter goal that will go through October 18.
No School:
Friday, August 30 or Monday, September 2 for the Labor Day holiday.
Picture Day:
Picture day is scheduled for Monday, September 23. Emails will be automatically sent to families soon with ordering information.
Sporting events are posted here
Lunch Menu is posted here
Communication:
There are 3 core ways information is shared at St. Stephen’s.
Fastdirect will be the most used way to communicate daily with teachers. This will be for student progress and questions. It will also be a common way to set up appointments with your student’s teacher. If you have issues with Fastdirect, please contact Mr. Schulz as soon as possible.
SSBDWELS.COM/SCHOOL is the schools website. All classroom, athletic, school updates will be posted here for future reference. You will get email notifications when items are posted to the site.
OneCall is the way many emergency and mass notifications will be sent out. You could get a text, email, phone call, or all if the situation warrants. Weekly school updates are sent via this method.
All these methods are great, but personal interactions are always the best. Please, if there are concerns or comments you wish to make with your child’s teacher, please work out a way to talk face-to-face.
LLHS Lady Jr. Warriors:
Registration Open: The Junior Lady Warriors basketball club is open to all girls attending grades 5-8 at one of our Lakeside Federation Lutheran elementary schools; note: 8th graders should have the desire to enroll at Lakeside for high school; club involvement is not intended to replace participation on Lutheran elementary school teams. Two Sunday tryout sessions have been scheduled at Lakeside: September 22 and September 29, 2024, both from 6-8 pm. Please contact the girls’ head coach, Andy Asmus with questions. Click here for more information.
Blessings on your school year.
Mr. Schulz
