God Word is impressed at the beginning of the day.
But I will sing about your strength.
In the morning I will shout about your mercy,
because you are a high fortress for me.
Psalm 59:16

Encouragement Passage:
Indeed, it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—
and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

Singing Schedule:
Children’s Choir will sing on Sunday, November 10, at the 8 a.m. service.

Mission Collection:
We collected $72.00 in our chapel service last week for Project Timothy.  We set a goal of $500.00 for our first quarter. Let’s see how far we can take the 2nd quarter goal.  The 2nd quarter missions will go to help the WELS world mission in the United Kingdom.  Pastor Martin will be here tomorrow to have chapel with the students and present on the mission.  We have set a similar goal of $500.00 for this quarter as well.  We should easily eclipse that goal if each student brings $1.00 each week for the next 8 weeks.

Veterans Day:
Our annual Veterans Day celebration is quickly coming up.  This year is special as our celebration falls on Veterans Day.
Please note the following details about Veterans Day:
All veterans are kindly invited to attend a special event in honor of their service to our country on Monday, November 11, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. The event will begin with a chapel service held in the church at 8:15 a.m. followed by presentations and songs by the grade school children. Afterward, refreshments will be served in the church basement.  Here is a link to sign up a veteran for the special event.  Please encourage people to sign up so we are aware of how many attendees there will be.

Fall Festival–
Thank you to all who helped out with the Fall Festival this year.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Thank you to all the parents who took time to come and discuss student progress this past week.  Please remember to keep the lines of communication between yourself and the teachers open at all times.

Weather information:
Please be aware that morning temperatures are around the 30-35 degree mark.  We have had many children showing up without, what one might say, is proper fall wear in Wisconsin.  Younger children are especially encouraged to bring a hat, gloves, and even a coat as they go outside before it really starts to warm up for the day.

Financial responsibilities:
Fee statements will be sent home this week.  Please remember to pay this before the 15th of the month.  Thank you.

Food Drive:
From October 28-November 22, St. Stephen’s will be collecting non-perishable food for the local food pantry.  There will be a classroom challenge associated with this food drive this year.  Classroom groups will be as follows:  Kindergarten and 6th grade, 1st grade, 2nd and 7th grade, 3rd and 4th grade, 5th and 8th grade.  So, get excited to start collecting!  Each week, the group with the most contributions will receive an edible treat and/or a non-edible prize! Most importantly, let’s let our light shine and share the love of Jesus by helping to meet the bodily needs of people in our community.

Fall Spirit Week:
To break up the start of the year, the student council has decided on a spirit week.  This will happen the week of November 11.
Monday:  Formal dress up for Veterans Day.  (Wear your best church style clothes–no jeans or t-shirts)
Tuesday:  Pajama Day
Wednesday:  Fall Color Day (Wear colors of Autumn–Reds, oranges, yellows)
Thursday:  Mismatch Day (Self-explanatory)
Friday:  Crazy Hair Day (Hairstyles that are crazy/different.  Do not come with colored/dyed hair)
