Pursue

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Philippians 3:12

Encouragement Passage:

For just as through the disobedience of one man the
many became sinners, so also through the obedience
of one man the many will become righteous.
Romans 5:19

Singing Schedule:
Kindergarten and grade 1 sing at the 10:00 service on November 9.

Children’s choir sings at the 9:00 service at Good Shepherd on November 16.

Raiderwear/Pursue Shirt Fridays:
November 7 will be a Raider wear Friday.  Wear Raider clothing.  If you don’t have any, just wear red, black, and white.

Mission offering:
We are collecting offerings for LLHS OpGo.  We have collected $500.20 of our $500.00 goal so far.  This past week was a collection of $68.00, which is 100.04% of our total goal.  Let the Lord of Life guide us as we support this mission.  Please look for envelopes to come home with children.  Thank you to all who helped us make this goal.

Starting tomorrow, October 27, we start collecting for our new mission.  We will be collecting money to support the WELS world mission to Australia.  This is a relatively new endeavor for WELS.  Here is a small synopsis for this mission:

WELS has launched a new world mission effort in Australia. With a large focus on the country’s growing immigrant communities, two WELS missionaries and their families relocated to Brisbane, Queensland, in the summer of 2024 to plant the seeds of the gospel in a region that has been described as largely post-Christian.

We will have a chapel service with Pastor Robb Raasch of the WELS World Mission Board on November 3.  Pastor Raasch currently serves as a parish pastor at Mount Olive in Appleton WI.  We look forward to his message about this mission.  This quarter we also set a goal of $500.00.

Parking Lot News:
Please remember that we ask all families to stay off of the playground until 3:45 and we also ask that no one park by the basketball hoops on the north end of the lot.  Please park in the stalls in the main parking lot.  Pass this on to family members or others who may be picking up or dropping off students.  Also, during drop off in the morning, if you are not going to park in the lot, please pull as far forward as possible.

Absences:
Please remember that if a student is gone for a medical appointment to get an excuse notice from the nurse/doctor.  Have the student turn that notice in when they come back to school.  This is important for attendance tracking purposes.

Also, when calling a student in for an absence, please inform staff as to why the student is absent for the day.

Call News:
At the church meeting on Sunday, October 19, St. Stephen’s called Mrs. Tiffany Mateske to be our 4th grade teacher and forensics coach.  Mrs. Mateske will be in communication with the leadership of St. Stephen’s over the next few weeks and will pray about to the Lord where she can be best used in the ministry field.  Please keep Mrs. Mateske in your prayers as she deliberates this call.

Area Reformation Service:
Today at 4:00 p.m., there will be a Reformation Service held at Luther Prep in Watertown.  What a great opportunity to gather with other Lutherans and celebrate the Reformation.

Fall Festival—There’s still time:
Many hands make light work…….There is still time to consider where you can help out.
Our Fall Festival is TODAY from 3:00-5:00.  We are looking for volunteers to help us with this event.  If you would like to donate or dress up your trunk, please click here to sign up. You could also join us for a Trunk N’ Treat, games, food, and fellowship.

Weather information:
Please be aware that morning temperatures are around the 30-35 degree mark.  We have had many children showing up without, what one might say, is proper fall wear in Wisconsin.  Younger children are especially encouraged to bring a hat, gloves, and even a coat as they go outside before it really starts to warm up for the day.

Food Drive:
Throughout November, St. Stephen’s will be collecting non-perishable, non-expired food for the local food pantry.  Boxes will be set out on each level of the school in which to place donations. Let’s let our light shine and share the love of Jesus by helping to meet the bodily needs of people in our community.

Fall Spirit Week:
To break up the start of the year, the student council has decided on a spirit week.  This will happen the week of November 10.

St. Stephen’s School Mission:
St. Stephen’s Lutheran School will offer a Christ-centered education to all students. We will instruct them in the Word of God, educate them in secular subjects, train them to become responsible citizens in our community, and prepare them for their eternal victory in heaven when they die. We will do this by holding Jesus and his love before them each day by appropriately using law and gospel as we instruct and discipline.

Please remember that if you need assistance with anything that you can reach out to the teachers and leaders of St. Stephen’s.  You can also find answers to some questions on the website: www.ssbdwels.com
