PURSUE

“For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows
that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:32-33

Friday dress up day:
November 21: Raiderwear day.
Wear Red, Black, and White.

Encouragement Passage:

God thunders with his voice in wonderful ways. He does great things that we do not understand. To the snow he says, “Fall on the earth.” To the pouring rain, the torrential downpours of rain, he says, “Be strong.”

Job 37:5-6

Please share this information with your children.

Singing Schedule:
Thank you to grades K and 1 for their beautification of the service last Sunday.

Thank you to the Children’s Choir for their service work at Good Shepherd this morning.

Raiderwear/Pursue Shirt Fridays:
November 21 will be a Raiderwear day.  Wear Red, Black, and White.

Mission offering:
We are collecting offerings for WELS World Mission: Australia.  We have collected $288.55 of our $500.00 goal so far.  This is 57.7% of our goal.  We received a nice bump to our total from our Veterans Day collection.  Let us now continue to press on toward our goal and see by how much we can surpass it now.  Please look for envelopes to come home with children and encourage faithful giving to the missions throughout the year.

Financial responsibilities:
Fee statements were sent home recently.  Please remember to pay this before the 15th of the month.  Thank you.

Weather information:
Please be aware that morning temperatures are around the 30-35 degree mark.  We have had many children showing up without, what one might say, is proper fall wear in Wisconsin.  Younger children are especially encouraged to bring a hat, gloves, and even a coat as they go outside before it really starts to warm up for the day.

Absences:
Please remember that if a student is gone for a medical appointment to get an excuse notice from the nurse/doctor.  Have the student turn that notice in when they come back to school.  This is important for attendance tracking purposes.
Also, when calling a student in for an absence, please inform staff as to why the student is absent for the day.

Call News:
Tiffany Mateske has returned our call to be the 4th grade teacher at St. Stephen’s.  The voting assembly will meet again on Sunday, November 23 to place a call to a new soul to see who God leads to our midst.  Please continue to pray for the ministry as we work toward filling our staff for the coming school year.  All are welcome to attend the meeting on the 23rd.  We especially encourage our voting members to attend and let their voices be heard.

Food Drive:
Throughout November, St. Stephen’s will be collecting non-perishable, non-expired food for the local food pantry.  Boxes will be set out on each level of the school in which to place donations. Let’s let our light shine and share the love of Jesus by helping to meet the bodily needs of people in our community.

Beaver Dam Christmas Parade:
All church and school families of St. Stephen’s are invited to walk in this year’s parade on Saturday, December 6th. Young, old, and in between are encouraged to represent our church and school by handing out flyers and candy during the parade. We ask that school-aged students be accompanied by an adult. Stay tuned to Facebook and Fast Direct emails for information on our spot in the line-up as we get closer to this event. We ask that people arrive by 4:30 pm for the 5 pm parade. We look forward to seeing you there!!!!

Speaking of candy, donations are needed for the parade.  Please send candy with your child to Mrs. Cooper’s classroom. Thanks so much!!

Handbook Highlight:
From time to time we like to highlight parts of the school handbook.  Here is this week’s piece to highlight:

  1. Disagreements:
If a concern relating to a school incident or application of school policy should arise, God’s Word in Matthew 18 tells us what procedure should be followed. Courtesy and Christian love dictate that the matter first be privately discussed between parent and teacher, not with other parents, the principal or pastors, or members of the congregations. If, after a period of time, the problem still exists, the principal should be contacted. If the matter involves the principal, the School Board chairman should be contacted. If further counsel is deemed necessary at a later time, the pastors and School Board may be contacted. We should remember that errors will be made because we are all sinful human beings. All problems should be approached with prayer and Christian love, allowing God’s Word to lead to peaceful and proper solutions.

Mid-Quarter Reports:
Wednesday marks the midway point of the 2nd quarter.  Reports will be released during the day on Thursday.  Please take a moment to look at and discuss the report with your children.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to the teachers.

Special Event:
On Tuesday, November 25, starting promptly at 1:00 (new start time), the students will be gathering in the gym for a jump rope competition.  Parents and families are invited to attend.  We ask that you park in the main west lot and enter the school through the office door (S1). Thank you.

No School:
There is no school Wednesday-Friday, November 26-28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Blessings as you celebrate Thankfulness with your families.

St. Stephen’s School Mission:
St. Stephen’s Lutheran School will offer a Christ-centered education to all students. We will instruct them in the Word of God, educate them in secular subjects, train them to become responsible citizens in our community, and prepare them for their eternal victory in heaven when they die. We will do this by holding Jesus and his love before them each day by appropriately using law and gospel as we instruct and discipline.

Please remember that if you need assistance with anything that you can reach out to the teachers and leaders of St. Stephen’s.  You can also find answers to some questions on the website: www.ssbdwels.com
