August 27-30, 2024
Welcome to the first week of second grade! I pray you all had a blessed summer. I look forward to working
with all of you to fill your children with knowledge and most importantly to grow their faith. Here are some
notes for the week:
★ Reminders:
○ We have chapel every Monday. The money we give will go towards Luther Prep Project
Timothy. This is a project that sends high schoolers throughout the nation to help preach
God’s Word.
○ There is an opening service at 8:15 am on the first day of school. We would love for you to join
us!
○ This is a short week of school. We do not have school Tuesday, August 27, Friday, August 30
and Monday, September 2.
★ Students will be bringing home a red folder every day. Please take out the papers that say keep at
home. If it is in return to school, please return. These things will be field trips slips, project notes, or
uncompleted homework from school.
★ Reading bookmarks
○ On the return to school side of the folder, you may see a piece of paper with readings they
should do at home. Please sign when finished. For example, it might say to read a short story
from the Superkids book on Monday. After reading it Monday, you would put your initials.
★ Here’s what we will be learning this week:
○ Science we will learn about what is science and God’s beautiful creation of earth and the
landscapes..
○ Math we will read and identify numbers to 100 right and left and identify one more and one
less than a number.
○ Christ Light we will learn stories about the arrival of baby Jesus and Baby John the Baptist.
○ Superkids we will learn different parts and types of sentences along with reading about the
summers of the Supperkids friends while reviewing short and long vowel sounds.
○ Music we will work on the expectations and procedures of Music Class.
