Hello,

We had a successful first week of school and survived the heat! Now onto another shorter week packed with Camp Phillip fun!

In case I hadn’t mentioned it in any earlier publications, you may feel free to text or call me with any concerns after school up until 7:30 p.m.  I will do my best to respond.  After that time I am in wind-down mode since I have a morning routine that gets me out of bed early.  If I miss a communication I will reach out the next day.  Thanks.

Here are some  tidbits for the week:

SINGING: We sing for the church picnic on Sunday, September 15, at Lakeside Park at 10 a.m. We also sing at Good Shepherd on Sunday, September 29, at the 9 a.m. service.  Your child will sit with you and come up to sing.  Here is a video to the song being sung at Good Shepherd

MISSION: On our first chapel about 8% of our $500 quarterly goal was collected.  As you are able, please use the envelope sent home in your child’s weekly folder to send an offering.  This week we do not have chapel, but an offering may still be sent if you wish. Our offerings this quarter go to Project Timothy.

WEEKLY FOLDER: Remember to empty all the papers on the Keep at Home side of the folder and look through them.  Notes may get mixed in with corrected work depending on how your child places the papers.  Also, notes may be time sensitive.  Thanks.

ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOK:  Please remember to check the assignment notebook each day and sign off at the bottom. Thanks. Some abbreviation clarifications are as follows:  E= English, WW= Word Work, GW= God’s Word, MW=Memory Work, H=handwriting, W= Writing.

FIELD TRIP: We are excited to depart for Camp Phillip on Thursday.  Our school day begins the same time as usual. However, we will not be leaving school right away, so your child needs to bring items along and into school except for the children of the chaperones.  Their items may stay in the vehicle. Chaperones should park in the smaller east unless road construction prevents this. Enter through the office and come to the classroom.  The plan is to leave by 9:30 a.m. and arrive by 11:00. There is a little wiggle room depending on traffic.  We will leave camp by 12:30 p.m.. End of school day pick up and bussing will remain the same on Friday unless your child is involved with St. Stephen’s Cross Country or has siblings involved.

Other Camp reminders:  Be sure to pack a sack lunch and beverage which we will

eat upon arrival at Camp Phillip.

Be sure to refer to the yellow list when packing.  Remember, this time of year in Wisconsin the weather can be humid and hot, or cool, or both.

If medication is needed, please be sure to send it with the medication form.

There is a camp store that your child may visit before we leave.  Various Camp Phillip themed items are available for purchase. (i.e. lanyards, CDs, mugs, disc golf frisbees, t shirts, sweatshirts to name a few)  Prices vary and purchases are not necessary.  Your child may be responsible for any money brought or you may give it to me.

STUDENT COUNCIL: Fourth graders will be asked if they would like to participate in student council this year.  If so, more information will be forthcoming.

BEACH TOWEL: Please send a bath towel or beach towel with your child by Wednesday, September 11.  We will be using them during snack/storytime next Wednesday.  (You don’t need to send it this week, but wanted to give a heads- up.)

CLASSROOM POSTER and BELIEF: You will find the words on a poster I have in my classroom that reads:  Fair isn’t everybody getting the sam thing…Fair is everybody getting what they need in order to be successful!  If your child ever comes home and declares that so and so didn’t have to do the same thing they did, or so and so has a different math book or reading book, or so and so was disciplined differently, please remind your child of this.  We will talk about fairness in the classroom, but reinforcement at home will be greatly appreciated.  It’s usually easier for we adults to understand the concept of fair since we see how each of our own children are different from each other.  Thank you.

God’s blessings!!.
